The book features a friendly, informal style.; Focuses clearly on basic electromagnetic theory, providing a sound platform for future exploration of related applications (such as AC circuits, antennas, transmission lines, plasmas, optics, etc.). A large collection of problems includes short, highly-focused problems that are placed immediately following the relevant text section while longer. Book Name: Introduction to Electrodynamics, 4th Edition Author: David J. Griffiths Edition: 4th ISBN ISBN What Makes Introduction to Electrodynamics by David J. Griffiths a Popular Book? Electrodynamics is defined as that part of mechanics that discusses about the relation between currents and magnetic fields or interaction .
This well-known undergraduate electrodynamics textbook is now available in a more affordable printing from Cambridge University Press. The Fourth Edition provides a rigorous, yet clear and accessible treatment of the fundamentals of electromagnetic theory and offers a sound platform for explorations of related applications (AC circuits, antennas, transmission lines, plasmas, optics and more. Introduction to Electrodynamics (solutions manual) - Griffiths.
Freeman Dyson, Advanced Quantum Mechanics: this is essentially Dyson’s explanation of how he merged the points of view of Feynman, Schwinger and Tomonaga to create a QED that everybody else could understand. If the Nobel prize were not limited to. Zangwill develops an intuitive picture of electrodynamics that will be a great resource for all.’ Rob Phillips - California Institute of Technology ‘I am impressed by the careful and thorough way this book addresses subtle questions like the behavior of electromagnetic fields in dielectric matter.

Advanced Electrodynamics. This book covers the following topics: Vector Calculus and Field Theories, Maxwell’s Equations and the Lorentz Force, Scalar and Vector Potentials, Solving Maxwell’s Equations: Electromagnetic Waves, Energy and Momentum of Electromagnetic Fields, Radiation Sources and Antennas, Electrodynamics in Macroscopic Media.
Ohanian's "Classical electrodynamics" is a good book too, but I prefer Zangwill and Brau. There is a book written by Julian Schwinger (God bless Julian Schwinger) called "Classical electrodynamics" and there is "Principles of electrodynamics" by Melvin Schwartz.
If you want to learn Electrodynamics, buy this book. Note: This book is the Indian version and some problems are different and the chapters aren't in the same order. Read more. One person found this helpful. Helpful. Comment Report abuse.
Josh. out of 5 stars Quality Electrodynamics. book, Subpar by: Quantum electrodynamics is an essential building block and an integral part of the gauge theory of unified electromagnetic, weak, and strong interactions, the so-called standard model.
Its failure or breakdown at some level would have a most profound impact on the theoretical foundations of elementary particle physics as a whole.
It quite depends on the level you wish to strike. For high school level I suggest University Physics (Sears, Young and Zemansky). Since it's theory is really illustrative, it can give you enough feel for the subject and can inculcate a bright int.
Schaum's Electomagnetics would show many basic and practical examples Griffith's book lacks. All of these suggestions would have made the book bigger, but the book is on the small side to begin with (7"x") compared to many other physics textbooks I've used.
For the topic of Electrodynamics a bigger Electrodynamics. book would have definitely been better/5().

Books shelved as electrodynamics: Introduction to Electrodynamics by David J. Griffiths, Classical Electrodynamics by John David Jackson, Electricity and. This book is intended for advanced readers. This book is going to cover the topic of electrodynamics using vector calculus.
We will provide a brief refresher to the topics of vector calculus, but this book does not intend to teach that topic to students who do not have any background in it. 'Griffiths’s book has come to dominate the American market in junior/senior E&M/electrodynamics textbooks to an extent that I have never seen any other textbook dominate any other undergraduate market - Griffiths’s love of electrodynamics shines from every page Not merely clear and effective - it is joyful.' Dan Styer - Oberlin College.

But "Classical Electrodynamics" by John David Jackson is my favourite. This books covered some basics very elaborately which Jackson didn't but Jackson clarified some matters better than Griffiths.
So, both of the books combied is the best composition for learning and grasping the ideas of classical electrodynamics/5(). This book is devoted to the fundamentals of classical electrodynamics, one of the most beautiful and productive theories in physics. A general survey on the applicability of physical theories shows that only few theories can be compared to electrodynamics.
